Best inspirational shows and movies

During the years I’ve been in college, I’ve spent countless hours procrastinating with the help of Netflix and online movie and tv streaming websites. My favorite genres are mostly comprised of Horror, Psychological Thrillers, Comedy, Romance, Indie Films, and Documentaries…basically anything that allows me to laugh, learn, or shit my pants.

I consider myself an extremely open-minded individual, and words really cannot describe my love for learning about anyone and everything. Really though, anything. Environmental, Business, Paranormal, Law, Criminology, Space, Food, Politics, Travel, Philosophy, Reality/Life…the list goes on and on. I even watch documentaries about things I’m not interested in at all or dislike simply because I’d rather be educated on it than ignorant.

What shapes my taste in shows, is probably my idea of what I consider life to all be about. In a world that is seems to be so focused on broadcasting negative news and generating fear, it’s often times easy to overlook all the positive things that happen all around us as well. We as a society are so overly-dependent on technology and virtual approval, that we are losing the ability to create genuine connections with other people. That being said, the stories, shows, and movies that touch me the most are those of people breaking through the barrier of everyday norms, and make a positive impact on someone else’s life.

Without further ado, here are a handful of my personal favorite inspiring movies or TV series. I hope that other curious and open-minded individuals can enjoy them as much as I have.  (I can only think of a few off the top of my head at the moment, but when I remember more, I’ll add them. )

  • The Buried Life (Show) – LOVE!! (about a group of 4 guys doing things on their bucketlist)
  • Kindness Diaries (Show)
  • Planet Earth  (Show)
  • Planet Earth 2 (Show)
  • The Pursuit of Happyness (Movie)
  • Freedom Writers (Movie)
  • The Bucket List (Movie)
